pre-writing

Oki doki (yes, that’s how I choose to spell that), I know you’re probably thinking “pre-writing? What in the name of my fluffy little gerbil is that?”.

Well, let’s just say that it’s the easy way of doing things.

It’s the process of getting things set up so that when you actually begin working on your novel, you can focus on the writing instead of finding out who your characters are and where they live.

You might be tempted to skip this, thinking that you’re far above such menial tasks, and you may be right, who knows?

But honestly, if there’s a single piece of advice in life that you choose to follow, it should be this one: don’t skip the pre-writing steps. That advice is so much more useful than “don’t run with scissors”, “never cut towards yourself” or “driving the wrong way down the highway is usually a bad idea”.

Trust me.
